Obituary for Sherrlyn O'Connell (Scully)
WEST SAND LAKE – Sherrlyn Scully O’Connell, 76, died Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. She was born in Troy on November 30, 1942, the daughter of the late William and Shirley Elder Scully.
She was raised in Watervliet and was a 1960 graduate of Watervliet High School. She was a homemaker and also held many part time positions.
She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in West Sand Lake.
Sherrlyn enjoyed boating on Lake George, camping and spending time with her three granddaughters.
She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Richard J. O’Connell; loving mother of Shawn M. O’Connell of Charlotte, NC, Stephanie L. O’Connell of West Sand Lake and Scott R. O’Connell of East Greenbush; adored grandmother of Ashley, Katelyn and Jenna Hull; dear sister of Mark W. (Rose) Scully of Watervliet and Kevin E. Scully of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 24th at 10:00 am at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Pastor Charlie Yang of the Salem United Methodist Church officiating. Her ashes will be interred at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands following the service. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.
