Obituary for Rod Abosse Messavussu

Menands – Rod Abosse Messavussu, 60, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Born in Lomé, Togo, Africa on September 16, 1959, he is the son of the late Adokoé Pierre Messavussu-Akué and Adukoé Moevi.

Rod was a loving, intelligent, and hard-working man who never stopped learning. He brought his passionate nature and propensity for success to the bustling New York City, determined to create yet another beautiful chapter in his life. He would later move to the capitol region where he attended HVCC for his undergrad and graduated with a degree in biochemistry from SUNY Albany. He then went on to start two businesses in the Albany area, always taking pride in everything he did. Rod loved to help people in any way that he could and would give away the shirt off his back to whoever needed it. His grit and determination not only made him a great business man, but a great father and family man as well. He was a well-dressed man who could be seen wearing the most finely-tailored suit to the classiest casual attire. When not hard at work, Rod enjoyed listening to great music, eating great food, and enjoying the company of those he loved.

Rod is survived by his adoring son, William A. Messavussu of Menands, Kobe Bonney of Menands, his mother, Adukoé Moevi, his siblings; Adovi A. Messavussu of Togo, Moe A. Messavussu of Chicago, Kpakpovi A. Messavussu of the Bronx, Adoboe A. Messavussu of Canada, Kale P. Messavussu of Connecticut, several of his adored nieces and nephews, and by many dear friends who were very lucky to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 4 PM until 6 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 9 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, Menands. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
