Obituary for Sandra L. "Sandy" McCart (Harrington)

HOOSICK FALLS – Sandra “Sandy” Lee Harrington McCart, 77, died suddenly Monday, November 9, 2020 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Hoosick Falls on March 4, 1943, the daughter of the late Robert C. and Dolores Nimons Harrington and was raised by her late grandmother, Mildred “Nana” Nimons. Sandy attended St. Mary’s Academy and was a lifelong resident of Hoosick Falls.

Sandy was employed by Nancy Shoe, owned and operated Dougherty’s Hotel with her late husband Bob from 1967-1978, Oak Industries and most recently was a caregiver at Rivers Edge Community Care Home in Bennington for many years.

She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls and was a Eucharistic Minister.

Her whole life was centered around her three boys and her grandchildren. She loved going to the Racino with family and friends, and shopping on QVC and Home Shopping Network.

She was the wife of the late R. Robert McCart; beloved mother of Timothy R. (Donna) McCart of Hoosick Falls, Scott M. (Sarah) McCart of Hoosick Falls and Eric J. (Kelly) McCart of Averill Park; adored grandmother of Ryan Muller, Connor, Joshua, Evan, Nicholas, Erin, Andrew and Emma McCart; dear sister of Sue (late John) Hickey of Hoosick Falls, William (Kathy) Harrington of Buford, GA, Peter (Karen) Klock of Fort Plain; sister in law of Sandra “Snookie” Harrington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her late siblings, Robert Harrington, Dolores Harrington, Gerald Harrington and John (late Joanne) Harrington.

Relatives and friends may call at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, 73 Main Street, Hoosick Falls (enter from the rear handicap side door) on Saturday from 10 am – 12 noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon with Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating. Her ashes will be interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hoosick Falls following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Karen & Molly McGovern Fund or the Immaculate Conception Church Restoration Fund, both c/o 67 Main Street, Hoosick Falls, NY 12090.
