Obituary for Filippo Pascarella

WATERVLIET – Filippo Pascarella, 76, died peacefully Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was born in Cervino, Caserta, Italy on January 1, 1944, the son of the late Gennaro and Vittoria Pascarella.

Filippo came to the United States in 1972 to make a better life for his children and his family. He was employed by Adirondack Steel in Watervliet and later for 20 years by Siena College in Loudonville in the campus maintenance department before retiring in 2010.

Filippo loved spending time with his sisters and his brother. He enjoyed making homemade wine, playing bocci ball and was very handy, assisting his sons with their home renovations. He was a member of the Latham Knights of Columbus and was very fond of his dog, Sparky.

He was the beloved husband of Michelina Stravino Pascarella who died in 2010; devoted father of Gennaro “Jerry” (Nancy Neal) Pascarella of Voorheesville, Antonio “Tony” (Mickey) Pascarella of Watervliet and Vittorio “Victor” (Melissa) Pascarella of Wynantskill; proud grandfather of Kaila Pascarella, Angelina (Luke) Magee, Anthony Pascarella, Luciano “Luke” Pascarella and Alessandro “Alex” Pascarella; great grandfather of Connor McGee; dear brother of the late Pellegrina (late Marco) Razzano of Italy, Elena (Dominick) Sposito of Watervliet, Antoinette (late Alfonso) Razzano of Italy, Alfonzina (late Angelo) of Watervliet, Vito (Josephine) Pascarella of Italy and Nancy (Victor) Maselli of Latham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid-19, the funeral mass will be private for the family only at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet followed by the entombment at St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Troy.
