Obituary for Richard D. Button Jr.

Malone – Richard D. Button, Jr., 57, died suddenly on Friday, February 26, 2021 following a tragic snowmobile accident. Born on Long Island on February 16, 1964, he was the son of the late Richard Sr. and Agnes Button.

Rick was a hardworking contractor who could build or fix just about anything. He enjoyed working with his hands and honed his craft quite skillfully throughout the years. He used his talent to create and run several of his own businesses, including RD Button LLC and EZ Button. He also worked for the Gordon Company in commercial construction and maintenance. Throughout his working life he made many friends who became more like family. Rick could always be found with a smile on his face and he truly made friends everywhere his life took him. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to whoever may need it. He was proud to recently have a home built for himself and his sister June, and was proud with where he was in life. On the off chance he wasn’t working, Rick spent his free time snowmobiling, going on motorcycle rides, and boating on Lake George. While he found joy in every aspect of life, nothing made him happier or filled him with more pride than his son Zach. Rick loved being a father, teaching him his trade, and passing on life’s lessons. He will be sorely missed by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.

Rick is survived by his son, Zachary Button of Clifton Park, his sister, June Button of Gansevoort, his cousins, Scott (Lisa) Noel and Jeff (Andrea) Noel, and his close friends in the Hilton clan and the Gordon Company crew. He was preceded in death by his cousin Gary Noel.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, Waterford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated after the visitation, at 1 PM at St. Mary’s Church, Waterford. Interment will then take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
