Obituary

WATERVLIET – Frank J. (Pops) Iannone, age 92, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in the comfort of his own home.

He was born June 29, 1928 to Rose and Victor Iannone in Brooklyn, NY. Frank moved to Cohoes in 1948 with his wife Louise (Ausiello) Iannone. Frank’s first job after moving to Cohoes was as a pizza maker at Danny’s Grill. In 1960 he and his wife moved to Watervliet where he began working at Allegheny Steel.

Frank truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; being involved with Mount Carmel Parish, being an active member of the Holy Name Society, playing in a bocce league, and starting Pops Crew bowling league which is still around today.

His greatest achievement in life is his beautiful family. Frank has 8 children, 26 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild with another on the way. Frank was a loving father and grandfather who supported his family by attending school and sport events. His memory will live on through his family.

Frank is predeceased by his mother, father, wife of 71 years, and his brother Victor. Frank is survived by his brothers Patsy and Louis as well as his 8 children; Rosemary Kvinlaugh, Victoria Sawyer, Chickie (Joey) Mokey, Frank (Diane) Iannone, Sandy Iannone, Victor (Yvonne) Iannone, Louis (Colleen) Iannone, and James (Eileen) Iannone as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Friday, March 19th from 4-7 pm. His funeral mass (due to Covid-19 restrictions is private for family only) will be Saturday, March 20th at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church in Troy. The mass may be viewed live on Parker Bros. Memorial Facebook page on Saturday 3/20 starting at 9:30 am). The funeral procession will pass his home after the mass at 10:45 am followed by the interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Anthony’s Parish, 28 State Street, Troy, NY 12180.

Our memories are many, especially the Bazaars at OLMC. Frank ran the kitchen like a "well oiled machine". The success was amazing. And, of course, we'll never forget the "after hours" in the school yard around the beer truck and the after, after hours at Reggie's. "Those were the days, my friend" Rest in Peace.

To the Family
I am so sorry to hear of pops passing. I know how he always
would tell me how much he liked me and I never forgot that.
Though I haven't seen him in quiet a while I will always remember him.
