Obituary for Ella Lorraine Powell

Watervliet - Ella Lorraine Powell, 77, of 2nd Avenue, Watervliet,
died peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Ella was blessed to be a breast cancer survivor, being cancer free since 2001

Born in Temple, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Clinton and
Lila Frances (Turpin) Powell. She was a 1961 graduate of Averill
Park High School and the Albany Business College.

Ella was employed as an Auditor for the NYS Office of Children and
Family Services, retiring in 2002. Ella grew up on the Methodist Farm
on Crooked Lake where she spent many hours swimming and waterskiing,
and helping Mom take care of her five younger siblings. She loved
golfing, camping, fishing, time on the beach, and vacationing in the
Florida Keys.

Ella loved football and was a huge fan of the Philadelphia
Eagles. She was very patriotic and loved this country, especially the American
Flag. Family and friends enjoyed her easy company as she was a good
listener and always remembered everyone's name and where they worked, among
many other things. She was a member of Senior Services of Watervliet and
the Overseas Veterans Association of Watervliet.
