Obituary for Julie Elsner (Fedorchak)

Albany - On Tuesday, April 13, 2021 after a brief illness at Albany Medical Center, Julie, 95, was called home.

She was born to Marko and Paraska Fedorchak in Maplewood, NY. For 57 years, she was married to Emil. They were also wed at St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church. He preceeded her in death in 2006. She and Emil went on to raise three great children, Karen (Michael) Graziade, Slingerlands, Jim (Debbie) Elsner, Lafayette, IN, and Greg Elsner, Wilton Manors, FL. She was the “Baba” of Mark (Sarah) Elsner, Nicholas (Corey) Graziade and Valarie Graziade. She was preceeded in death by grandson Paul Graziade and granddaughter Patricia Elsner. She was the loving great grandmother to AJ, Ryan, Reese and Parker.

Julie was the sister of Dorothy (late Wasyl) Mokey, Madge (Sanford ) Ten Eyck, Helen (late Walter) Kelly, Joan(late Michael) Batza, and the late Andrew Fedorchak, Paul Fedorchak, John Fedorchak, Peter Fedorchak, Metro Fedorchak, Christina Shagalski, Mary Minczak, Anna Spiak, Sophie Rench, Paula Morrissey, Lillian Demrick, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cousin Ann Beeler and her family. She always made an effort to call family members on their birthdays.

She was a life long parishioner and a member of the Sisterhood at St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church.
Julie worked for both the Education and Tax Departments of New York State. She and Emil enjoyed family vacations to Cape Cod and upon retirement enjoyed going to Florida.

She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed winning radio contests where she identified mystery recipes. She had a gentle yet strong spirit and had a good sense of humor. She was especially proud of her heritage and enjoyed cooking dishes that represented her culture. A kind, gracious and caring woman, family was always the center of her life.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the care given to Julie by Cheryl Clark, Maria Delugo, and her daughter Lisa. Additional thanks for the professionalism and kindness shown by the staff of Albany Medical Center Unit E4.

Julie’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 11 am in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Archibald Street, Maplewood. Interment will follow in St. Basil’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Julie’s family on Monday, April 19, 2021, from 4 until 7pm, at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet where also the Parastas service will be held at 6 pm. The wearing of face masks and social distancing will be required.
