Obituary for Mateo Jax Vidal

Mateo Jax Vidal gained his angel wings on April 11, 2021. He leaves behind his mom, Rosa Vidal, his brother Anthony Escobales, Jr., his maternal grandfather, Louis Vidal, Sr., his uncle, Louis Vidal, Jr., his aunt Syreeta Lee Freehauf, his cousins, Mariah and Syarra Fiacco, his father Peter Burdick, his paternal grandmother Josephine Gonzalez, his sisters, Alexis Bashford and Valentina Burdick, and too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to mention but all who were certainly loved by Mateo.

Mateo had a rare genetic disorder called Kabuki Syndrome type 2 which caused many delays for him and caused many hard times and lasting effects, however he was a fighter and tried his very best at all he did. He could make you laugh or cry. He would always try to eat his hands and he loved playing with his favorite stuffed toys. For most of his life, he was usually homebound due to his lack of mobility skills and strength.

Mateo enjoyed his teacher time and snuggling with his mom and brother. He had a sense of humor and often played tricks on his respite workers and nurses. He had a knack for throwing doctors for a loop, and even gave his grown men caretakers a run for their money. He had a special gift of bringing so much love and light to not only to his friends and family, but to strangers alike. He was so very special and was a bright spot in the lives of so many. Mateo will have an everlasting effect on all of us and his sudden death is devastating to all who knew him. Please pray for our peace and strength as we endure this difficult time.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 6 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Home, Watervliet, with a visitation before the service, from 4 to 6 PM. Please visit parkerbrosmemorial.com to leave a message of condolence.
