Obituary for Eleanor Meeson

WATERVLIET – Eleanor Melinae Michoian Meeson, 92, died peacefully Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Diamond Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation with her family at her side. She was born in Troy on September 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Sahagian Michoian.
Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Watervliet High School and lived in the city her whole life. She was a member of St. Peter Armenian Church in Watervliet. Eleanor grew up amongst a diverse group of friends on 6th Ave, who she held in her heart for the entirety of her life. From working in her father’s tailor shop to raising a family while employed at TEK Hughes, Eleanor’s life was full of stories involving people from all walks of life. She was a caretaker for all, a person who demonstrated that sharing love and kindness with others contributes to a life well lived.
While she enjoyed her backyard and gardening, trips to the Saratoga Racino, doing the Times Union crossword puzzle every day, and listening to Englebert Humperdinck, her happiest moments were those that she shared with her family. “Gram” was especially loved by her grandchildren of whom regarded her as an angel sent from Heaven. She was simply the best part of the character that defines each of us. While she will be missed, she leaves behind an indelible legacy of love, compassion, and a wonderful sense of humor. Eleanor also made the World’s Greatest Roast Beef for nearly 80 years, filling the hearts and bellies of all who were blessed to enjoy it!
She was the loyal and loving wife of the late Robert W. Meeson, Sr. who died in 2007; beloved mother of Sharon L. Pauley of Watervliet and the late Robert “Bob” W. (Sheila) Meeson, Jr. who died December 23, 2020; adored grandmother of Lance W. Meeson, Douglas W. Pauley, Melanie Meeson, Robert W.
