Obituary for Michael Paul Acevedo

Watervliet – Michael Paul Acevedo, 38, passed away at home on Saturday, May 22, 2021. Born in Troy on March 13, 1983, he was the son of Ventura Acevedo and Christine Terry.

Michael grew up in Watervliet and attended both Watervliet Elementary and Watervliet High School. He was a two-sport standout, making both varsity football and basketball as an eighth grader. His athleticism stuck with him throughout his life as he enjoyed playing on multiple flag football teams, spending time at the gym working out and keeping up on his fitness. He was an avid football fan, cheering on his teams, the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Michael was a kind-hearted man who was always willing to help out anyone in need. He could lift anyone’s spirit with his sense of humor. He certainly wasn’t one to sugarcoat things and lacked a filter on occasion, but overall he was a family man with a big heart.

Michael is survived by his parents; Ventura (Peggy) Acevedo and Christine Terry, his siblings; Anthony (Liz) Acevedo, Kevin (Stacy) Acevedo, Adam Davidson, Brian (Samantha) Acevedo, Emileigh Fosmire, and Allycia (Jake Plue) Vasquez, his nieces and nephews; Luciano, Carmela, Lorenzo, Mackenzie, and Maverick Acevedo, his girlfriend Brittany Brown, his Aunt Shannon Terry, his best friend Bill Martin, his canine companion Dougie, and many other loving family members and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening, from 4 until 7 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet, with a service to conclude the evening at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Michael in a special way may consider a donation to the Addiction Care Center of Albany Family Support Navigator Program, 90 McCarty Ave., Albany, NY 12202, or at www.theacca.net.
