Obituary for Karen Marie Wrobel (Upton)

Colonie – Karen M. Upton Wrobel, 55, passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany, she is the daughter of Robert and Maria (Pagano) Upton.

Karen was a graduate of Watervliet High School Class of 1984. She worked as a bus driver for the Averill Park Schools early in her career before moving on to become a Teacher’s Assistant in the Special Education Department for Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District. She loved art, music and was famous for her cooking especially her soups. Karen loved to spend time with her family and travel which included annual trips to Myrtle Beach, visiting family in Cape Cod and Virginia, camping at Blackthorne Resort and spending time with her companion Gary in Daytona Beach, FL. Karen will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.

In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her twin daughters, Jessica Wrobel and Rebecca Wrobel; her loving companion, Gary Dodge; her brother, Robert A. (Sandra) Upton; her nephews, Brandon and Justin Upton; and her canine companion, Mason. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Calling hours for Karen will be held on Friday July 30th from 3:00 – 6:00 pm at The Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet. A funeral service will begin at 6:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. John Tallman.
