Obituary for Charlotte Eleanor Jones
Berlin – Charlotte E. Jones, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday October 17, 2021 at The Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Born in Pittsfield, MA on December 12, 1927 she is the daughter of the late Russell and Eleanor (Kretch) Whitman. Charlotte was the loving wife of Milton E. Jones for 70 years until his passing in 2018.
Charlotte was a graduate of Berlin High School, Class of 1945. She married on September 27, 1947 and raised their 7 children in Berlin and Cincinnati OH. They enjoyed retirement in Port St Lucie FL for over 20 years. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, and loved to spend time with her family which was her greatest joy. She had a never ending faith and was a longtime member of the Berlin United Methodist Church. She worked as a literacy volunteer for many years.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Susan (Kenneth) Farnik, Alan (The late Kim Jenks) Jones, Lynne (Tad) Hewitt, Michael (Joy) Jones, Nancy (Terry) Lamphere, Brian (Kathy) Jones and Jeffrey (Ann) Jones; and her brother, Russell A. Whitman, Jr. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Charlotte was predeceased by her sister, Theresa Whitman and her grandson, Jacob Lamphere.

Calling hours for Charlotte will be held on Friday October 22nd from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at The Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Rd. in Petersburgh. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 25th at 1:00 pm at The Petersburgh United Methodist Church, 12 Head of Lane Road in Petersburgh, NY 12138. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery.
