Obituary for Jack Edward Perry

WYNANTSKILL, NY – Jack E. Perry passed peacefully from this life, at the age of 96, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

Jack was president of C.D. Perry & Sons, Inc. of Troy, NY, a company founded by his late father, Cutler D. Perry, in 1936, as well as Troy Slag Products Company, Inc., Perry Bros. Sand & Gravel Company, Inc. and C.D. Perry, LLC. Jack was proud to have lived long enough to see his company complete the City of Troy Seawall Stabilization Project which repaired and stabilized the 95 year old seawall along the banks of the Hudson River in Troy which was damaged by Hurricane Irene. Jack was at his best when he was at the helm of his businesses and operating his cranes.

Born in Albany on July 28, 1925, Jack was the son of the late Cutler D. and Emily (Hauser) Perry. He was raised in Troy, where he resided for most of his life and enjoyed spending the winter months at his home in Celebration, Florida.

Jack was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1944 with the rank of Seaman Second Class.

Jack enjoyed owning and racing Standardbred Horses and did so under the name of Perry Farm-Perry Racing Stable, LLC. He was a past member of the United Trotting Association.

He was a fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed watching them play. He was a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks for more than 46 years, the Wynantskill American legion Post, the Operating Engineers Local 106 for more than 76 years and was a past board member of former State Bank of Albany.

A faith-filled man, Jack was proud of his Roman Catholic heritage and was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Troy.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia (Brelia) Perry who was the daughter of the late Warren H. and Alma S. Brelia; his children, Bruce (Sally) Perry of Averill Park, NY, Jacqueline (Kevin) Gould of Wynantskill, NY and Richard Perry of Troy, NY; stepdaughter, Jeanne O. (Tim) Arnold of Peru, NY; his grandchildren, Adam Gould, Brittany Gould, Kaitlyn Gould O’Brien, Stephanie and Nicole Perry; his great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lauren O’Brien, Emma, Sophie and Riley Perry. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Frank H. Perry.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend James Mackey on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 10 am in St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, Troy. Please be advised that all Covid protocols including the wearing of a facemask will be required in the church. Interment will be held at a later time in Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY.

There will be no public visiting hours.
