Obituary for Linda S. Trela (Pitcher)

WATERVLIET – Linda S. (Pitcher) Trela, 64, died peacefully Thursday, December 23, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Troy on November 2, 1957, the beloved daughter of Albert C. and Concetta Tedesco Pitcher.

Linda was raised in Watervliet and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and St. Patrick’s School both in Watervliet. She was a 1975 graduate of Watervliet High School.

She was a keypunch operator for Times Mirror Magazine in Menands, a team supervisor for Troy-Built Gardenway in Troy for many years and most recently for Newkirk Products in Guilderland as a data entry supervisor.

Linda was a communicant of the former St. Patrick’s Church in Watervliet where she taught Sunday school because she loved inspiring children. While her girls were growing up, she was always on the sidelines at St. Brigid’s School rooting them on or at Watervliet High School attending all of their theater productions and school events.

Linda was a diehard NY Giants fan and loved all the Harry Potter movies. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, but most of all she loved being with her family. Linda was known to family and friends as a positive source of love and light. She had a larger than life spirit with a huge heart and immense sense of humor.

She is the loving mother of Sarah J. Trela of Latham and Brittany C. Trela of Rotterdam; dear sister of Laurie J. (Scott) Cadan of Rotterdam and the late Verna Manory; aunt of Lindsey Bacher; lifelong best friend of Gina Mirch Deyo; niece and god daughter of Clem (late Jack) Cronin and Salvatore Tedesco; cousin and dear friend of Rev. John H. Cronin. She is also survived by the father of her children, Martin A. Trela and several cousins and close friends as well as her beloved Pomeranian dog Gizmo.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital Critical Care Unit and St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to their mother.

The funeral will be Saturday, January 8th at 9:15 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Her ashes will be interred with her parents at Memory Gardens in Colonie. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday, January 7th from 4-7 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Free to Be Me Rescue, 154 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY 12054 or freetobemerescue.org.
