Obituary for Elizabeth G. Hart

LATHAM – Elizabeth G. Hart, 86, passed away at home on Saturday, April 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family as was her wish.

Liz was born in Oneonta on September 10, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Mary Gilmartin. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and later moved to Albany where she met her husband at the New York Telephone Company. Together they raised a family of seven kids and ran a successful business, Hart Alarm Systems. In retirement, they spent winters in Bradenton, Florida near her sister, Kathy.

A talented cross-stitcher, her work can be found in the homes of family and friends. Liz also enjoyed reading, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and loom knitting, while enjoying Pinot Grigio and chocolates.

Faith and love of family was very important to Liz. Prior to COVID, she loved to attend mass at St. Pius X Church followed by dinner out with family.

Liz was lucky enough to spend her final years at home with the help of her caregiver, Kerry Brant. The family is grateful for the care she provided to Liz.

She was the wife of the late James K. Hart; beloved mother of Kenneth Hart, James (Lynn) Hart, Lisa (Scott) Noel, Steven (Joan) Hart, Julie Hart (Kathy Newell), Susan Rainka (Philip Patnode) and the late Jennifer Hart Wellman; adored grandmother of Michael (Stephanie) Hart, Matthew (Megan) Hart, Alexandra Hart, Zachary Hart, Abigail Hart, Taylor Noel, Connor Noel, Jillian Hart, Marissa Hart (Stuart Walker), Kailyn Hart, Hannah Rainka Halek (Eric), Meghan Rainka, Michael Newell, and Mark Newell; great grandmother of Harlowe, Harrison and Madison Hart; sister of the late Mary Ann Wheatley, James Gilmartin and Kathy Gignac. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral mass will be Friday at 10:00 am at St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
