Obituary for Zita J. Wilkins (Paul)
Watervliet – Zita J. (Paul) Wilkins passed from this life, at the age of 77, on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the home of her niece in Speigletown.
Zita was born in Troy and was the daughter of William and Mary Beatrice (Rufle) Paul. She was a lifelong Watervliet resident. Following high school, Zita was employed as a counter attendant in the snack bar at the former Jupiter Department Store in Troy. She later worked for more than thirty years at Central Market in Watervliet which later became Price Chopper.
Zita enjoyed the times she spent with her family. The holidays were especially cherished by Zita and cooking for her family provided Zita with much pleasure. She loved animals and birds of every kind and will be remembered for playing scratch off tickets, solving crosswords, painting by numbers, obsessively cleaning, and always eagerly lending a helping hand to her neighbors and friends in need.
Zita is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne L. Wilkins; her loving nieces and nephews, Tracy Milanese (Joe), Cheryl VonFricken (John), Stephen Paul (Tammy), William Paul, Dale Paul, Donna Rausch and Ronald Paul, Jr.; her step-sons, Chad Wilkins (Cyndi) and Wayne Wilkins (Jennifer); her brothers-in-law, Carl Wilkins (Lorey) and Leo Wilkins (Karen). She was sister of the late Joy Cashin and Ronald Paul, Sr. and is also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews and her canine companion, Heidi.
A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit with Zita’s family on Thursday from 4 until 7 PM at the funeral home.
