Obituary for Joseph John Kocienski

Schaghticoke – Joseph John Kocienski, 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 24, 2022. Born in Troy on January 20, 1932, he was the son of the late Adam and Marcella (Vittovick) Kocienski.

Joseph grew up in South Troy and later moved to Pleasantdale. He worked for A&P Bakery and Freihofer’s Bakery for over 40 years until his retirement. In his free time Joseph was a big outdoorsman and could often be found hunting in Tupper Lake or fishing the Tomhannock. He also loved spending days at the Saratoga Race Track or trying his luck at the casino. Most importantly, he was a family man through and through who enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and taking trips with them; going on cruises and even traveling to Hawaii several times.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Margaret M. (Razzano) Kocienski of Schaghticoke, 6 children; Donna (Thomas “Skip”) Colligan of Schaghticoke, Linda (Paul) Halek of Halfmoon, Margaret (Greg) Yaksta of New Jersey, Joe (Kathy) Kocienski of Petersburgh, Steve (Karen) Kocienski of Schaghticoke, and Adam (Cynthia) Kocienski of Schaghticoke, 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Marcella (Richard survives) Fushs, his brothers; Phillip, Edward, and Stephen Kocienski, and his sister Rose Morawski.
