Obituary for Karen A. Campbell (Slichko)

WATERVLIET – Karen Ann Slichko Campbell, 76, died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 18, 2022 with her family surrounding her with love.

She was born in Troy on September 10, 1945 the daughter of the late Alex and Lorraine Gregware Slichko. Karen was raised and educated in Watervliet and was a graduate of Watervliet High School where she was her class valedictorian.

Karen was employed by Sterling-Winthrop and Niagara Mohawk earlier in her life. For over 30 years she was employed as a bartender for the Terminal Tavern and Margie’s Tavern both in Troy and Larry’s Tavern in Watervliet.

Karen loved to watch her soap operas, but most importantly she loved her children and grandchildren.

She was the beloved mother of Donald E. (Antoinette) Campbell of Cohoes, Christine M. Campbell (Robert Chandler) of Watervliet and Kelly J. Connery of Mechanicville; adored grandmother of Katrina Falkowski, Justin Jewett, Torri Campbell, John Michoian, Kierstin, Steven and Evan Fontaine, Kiara Brooks, Taylor and Cody Chandler; great grandmother of Za’Niyah Ray; dear sister of Julie Slichko (late Cliff) Hughes of Schuylerville and the late Bruce and Raymond Slichko. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet on Monday, August 22nd from 10:00 am – 11:30 am followed by a remembrance service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. A reception will follow at the Watervliet AOH.
