Obituary for Mary Josephine "Mary Jo" Lenney (Keane)
Latham – Mary Josephine “Mary Jo” Lenney passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2022. Born in Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary Ellen Keane.
Mary Jo grew up in Ireland and came to the United States with her aunts at the age of 12. She was educated in Manhattan and studied nursing at Roosevelt Hospital. She spent many years as a registered nurse at several places, including for the Albany County Department of Health, Siena College, and St. Brigid’s School. Through her hard work and dedication she was able to save up enough money to help her brothers move to the United States as well. She was a woman of faith and was very involved in her church as a Eucharistic minister and volunteer at St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Mary Jo will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love knew no bounds.
Mary Jo is survived by her children; Barbara Conway of Lake Luzerne and Henry Lenney of Delmar, her grandchildren; Jessica (Justin) Kneer, Josh (Mackenzie) Halse, Emily Lenney, and Ian Lenney, and her great-grandchildren; Julia, Jentry, and Janna Kneer. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Colleen Halse, who passed away last month, and by her brothers; William, Patrick, and Michael Keane.
Funeral services will be held privately for Mary Jo’s family.
