Obituary for Mary K. "Kathy" Macpherson
WATERVLIET –Mary K. “Kathy” Macpherson, 77, died Friday, November 11, 2022 at her home in Watervliet. She was born in Troy on November 13, 1944, the beloved daughter of the late Duncan and Mary Jeffs Macpherson.
Kathy was raised in Troy and Watervliet and was a graduate of Sacred Heart School in Troy and Catholic Central High School, class of 1961.
Kathy was employed early in her life at Montgomery Ward & Co. in Menands. She later was employed by the New York Telephone Company later NYNEX in Menands and North Greenbush for over 35 years as an analyst and checker for the white and yellow pages in the phone book before retiring in 1997.
She was a devout catholic and was a communicant of the former St. Brigid’s Church and Sacred Heart of Mary Church and currently the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church all in Watervliet.
Kathy loved to watch television and enjoyed old westerns and classic movies. Kathy also loved music and had a beautiful voice. She was often asked to sing at weddings and funerals.
She is the loving sister of Duncan G. (Linda) Macpherson of Freehold, NY, Yardsley A. Macpherson of Latham, Elizabeth “Beth” (John) Rowe of Oceanside, NY, Christine (John) Meharg of San Francisco, CA and the late James F. “Gabby” Macpherson. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnephews and a grandniece.
Kathy will be waked at the Cummings Funeral Home, 643 Third Avenue (Rt. 32 South of Arsenal), Watervliet from 4:00 - 6:00pm on Wednesday, Nov, 16.
The funeral will be Thursday, Nov. 17 at 9:15 am from the Cummings Funeral Home, and at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Donald L. Rutherford, Pastor. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 2416 7th Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189.
