Obituary for Margaret A. Holohan (Corcoran)

Loudonville - Margaret Ann “Peggy” Corcoran Holohan, of Loudonville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 16, four days short of her 86thbirthday. She is with her beloved husband of 60 years, David M. Holohan Sr., who passed away in December 2021.

Peggy, a Troy native, was the only daughter of John D. Corcoran Sr. and Margaret Dewitt Corcoran. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her infant brother James and her brother William D. Corcoran.

In 1954, Peggy graduated from Catholic Central High School, where in the 10th grade she started dating Dave, the soulmate she’d marry seven years later and be with for the rest of her life. That same year, Peggy also graduated from St. Joseph’s Conservatory of Music. She graduated from St. Peter’s School of Nursing in 1957, and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, where she loved caring for babies in the most need, in the neonatal intensive care unit. After marrying Dave, they moved frequently for his job, living in several states and Canada before settling back home in the Capital District in 2002.

Peggy is survived by her son, David M. Holohan Jr., and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Holohan. Peggy’s also survived by her older brother, John D. Corcoran Jr., her sister-in-law, Joan Corcoran, many Corcoran and Holohan nieces and nephews, and her life-long friends, Sr. Kay Graber, Mary and Martin Walsh, Anne and Don Dwyer.

The family appreciates the care provided to Peggy by the staff at Eddy Village Green at Cohoes, her home for the last six years.

Family and friends are welcome to visit from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the Bowen & Parker Bros Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Rd, Latham, N.Y. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Broad and Sixth Streets, Waterford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
