Obituary for Christopher J. Schwing

WATERVLIET – Christopher J. Schwing, 70, passed away on Friday evening, December 30, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA.

He was born in Ozone Park, Brooklyn, NY on January 24, 1952, the son of the late Clifford J. and Antoinette Guglielmotti Schwing. Chris was educated at Xavier Military Academy in Brooklyn. Chris was employed as a carpet and tile installer in New York City and also owned a small store there. He moved to Rotterdam, NY 19 years ago and was employed as an insurance agent, a real estate agent and most recently he was the owner of PMA Pitstop, a convenience grocery store located in the NY State Campus, Building 8 in Albany where he changed lives before retiring 5 years ago.

Chris loved fishing and boating at his camp on Summit Lake, was very passionate about his grandkids, Bella and Mallory and loved being with his family. He left a lasting impression with everyone he came into contact with, always using his great sense of humor with many funny jokes.

He is the beloved life partner and fiancé of Anne Marie Julian Dudley; loving father of Nicole (Jah Chandler) Schwing, Rachel (Mike) Gleason, Jon Michael Uebel all of Rotterdam and the late Clifford Schwing; grandfather of Isabella Chandler, Mallory Gleason, Alexis O’Brien, Brandon and Gabriella Dudley, Cameron and Gianna Ziter; stepfather of Amanda Ziter (Royal French) of Troy and Jonathan (Deanna) Dudley of Menands; brother of the late Janet and Mary Ann Schwing; special friend of the late Tommy Joe “T.J.” Ehlers.

The funeral will be Friday at 8:45 am from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Shrine Church, 28 State Street, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
