Obituary for Lynda J. Phillips (Cahill)
BERLIN – Lynda J. (Cahill) Phillips, 79, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 with her family at her side. She was born in Berlin on August 5, 1943, the daughter of the late Edward and Addie (Goodermote) Cahill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth W. “Tim” Phillips; her sons, John Belanger Phillips and Kenneth S. Phillips; her brothers, Jerald (Frances) Cahill, Lloyd (Angel) Cahill, Allen (Julie) Cahill and Wesley (Nancy) Cahill.
Lynda is survived by her four children, Dawn (David) Gentner, Kellie (Kevin) Maynard, Aaron (Stacy) Phillips and Stephen (Jazmine) Phillips all of Berlin. Lynda also leaves behind 18 grand kids and 17 great grand kids.
Lynda was a stay at home mom with six kids and also was known as the town babysitter. Later on she went on to work at places like W.J. Cowee, Inc. and Taconic Plastics. But truly she loved working as a bus monitor for Berlin Central School for the special needs children.
The family would like to give a big and special thank you to Sarah Boyd who started out as a home health aide that quickly turned into a beautiful friendship. Without her and my loving husband Dave Gentner, I truly would have been lost. Additional love and thanks goes to the family and nieces for their help.
We would also like to thank Community Hospice for their quick response and guidance for helping to transition mom into the beautiful angel she is.
The funeral service will be Monday, January 30th at 1:00 pm at the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiating. Interment will follow in Berlin Community Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Monday from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Hospice, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
