Obituary for Julia J. Waldo (Forcucci)

WATERVLIET – Julia J. Forcucci Waldo, 96, died peacefully Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland with her family at her side. She was born in Watervliet on September 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Bonifacio and Anna DeSantis Forcucci.

A lifelong resident of Watervliet, Julia was a 1944 graduate of Watervliet High School and the Mildred Elley Business School.

She was employed by the Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer and later by the NYS Dept. of Transportation in Albany as an administrative assistant from 1964-1986.

Julia was also a homemaker raising her four daughters. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she worked at all of the bazaars.

She was an avid bowler and was a member of the “200 Club”, bowling three 200 games at the Troy Bowl. She also enjoyed bingo and trips to Foxwood Casino.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Rosary Unit at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for the wonderful care and compassion given to our mom.

She was the beloved wife of the late John G. Waldo; loving mother of Ninette (Michael) Kondratowicz of Rotterdam, Susan (John) Heid, Giovina (Charlie) Diamond and Jannice (Mike Manning) Sherwin all of Watervliet; adored grandmother of Susan Crljenkovic, Keith (Erin) Heid, Scott (Melissa) Heid, Khalan (Bil) McNeff, Robert (Krystina) Diamond, Bridget McAvoy, Jason Sherwin, Christian Sherwin and the late Brandon Sherwin; great grandmother of Signe, Emma, Alex, Ava, Reidar, Jaxon, Ainsley, Anthony and Lillian; dear sister of Susan Rossetti of Watervliet and the late Nazarena Monteparo, Frances, Louis, Henry and Anna Forcucci. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday at 12:30 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet with Rev. John F. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 10:30 am-12:30 pm.
