Obituary for Joan Marie Prock (Brennan)

Watervliet - Joan M. Prock, 79, died Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Greer, SC, surrounded by her devoted husband and loving family, as they helped her through her final journey. Born January 31, 1944, in Watervliet, NY, she was the daughter of the late Martin Brennan and Mary (Pazzo) Brennan.

For over 57 years, she was the beloved wife of Sam Prock. She was mother to Tina (Dave) Gauthier, Cindy (Joe) Palmer, Stacey (Tony) Cahill, Sam (Colleen) Prock, and Lisa (Chris) Urban. Her 11 grandchildren were the light of her life: Victoria, Zack, Ryan, Jaelynn, Matthew, Taylor, Jared, Sierra, Thomas, Bella and William.

She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. She worked for New York State, operated as general manager of Sam’s Automotive, worked alongside her husband at EZ Living RV Center, and then worked at NYNEX until her retirement.

She was a woman who had dedicated her whole life to her family and helping others. In addition to raising her children and managing their home, she worked alongside Dad to run multiple businesses. She was strong willed and didn’t back down from a challenge. She stood for what was right and defended those in need.

We can’t remember a time that she was not there for us, through all the good times and the bad. We are left with such happy memories. She always had music playing in the house. She enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, hosting parties, playing cards, the holidays surrounded by her family, family reunions, Disney trips, and just about anything that involved spending time with the family and friends that she so loved. But most precious of all, she enjoyed dancing with Dad, and it was a treasure to watch them.

She is survived by her husband, her children and grandchildren, her sister, Betty McKeon, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Steve (Shirley) Brennan, sisters Peg (Bill) Gracon, Mae (Walt) Muir, Eleanor (Edmund) Cohen, Kay (Barry) Bayly, Jeannie, and brother in law, Ken McKeon.

We would like to acknowledge and express our deepest gratitude to Interim Hospice Care for their support, compassion, and guidance through this journey, especially Debbie, who carried us through these last several months with tremendous grace and love. We also would like to thank Dana, Wendy & Stephanie for their enormous support, compassion and care in always treating mom with the utmost respect.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 43 Brookside Ave, Wynantskill. Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Joan’s family on Friday, March 10 from 4-7 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Joan in a special way may consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1003 New Loudon Rd. Suite 201, Cohoes, NY 12047.
