Obituary for Nancy L. Carroll

Troy – Nancy L. Carroll, age 79, passed away at home on March 26, 2023 after a year-long battle with cancer. Born in Watervliet on December 20, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Riley and Caroline (Charlie Dugan) Lowery.

Nancy leaves behind her loving husband, John “Todd” Carroll, their daughter Katie (Fred) Fuller of Granger, IN, her grandchildren; Liam Fuller, Caroline Fuller, Ryan Carroll, and Melina Carroll, her sister Carolyn Tisdale of San Diego, her sister-in-law Madelyn Carroll of Troy, and by several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son David (Melissa survives) Carroll and her brother-in-law William Carroll.

Nancy lived her life dedicating herself to others. She spent much of her time volunteering for and helping to work toward a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. She fundraised, worked at many events, and helped at the office weekly. Her commitment to the cause served as an inspiration to many. Her greatest role however came along when she was promoted to “Nana”. She devoted herself to being the most loving grandmother, and even became a “bonus Nana” for many friends and other family members. She could always be found at her grandchildren’s many events, whether it was a game, dance recital, or other school activities.

In her free time, Nancy was a huge fan of baseball and loved to cheer on her beloved Boston Red Sox and locally, the Tri-City Valleycats. She also enjoyed family trips to Disney and the yearly trip to Florida with her husband Todd.

Nancy’s family would like to thank everyone involved with Community Hospice for the support and care provided to them over the last few months.

All are invited to visit with Nancy’s family on Thursday, March 30 from 4 to 7 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, Watervliet. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday morning, March 31, at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Troy, with interment following the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honor Nancy’s dedication to assisting families affected by Cystic Fibrosis, those who wish to remember Nancy in a special way may consider a donation to the Donna M. Crandall Foundation, 50 Traditional Lane, Loudonville, NY 12211.
