Obituary for Joyce Mary Hamilton (Harbour)
TROY – Joyce M. (Harbour) Hamilton passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the age of 71.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. Harbour, Sr. and Sadie M. Hickman Harbour. Joyce was raised in Green Island and will be remembered for her years at the Villa Café in South Troy where she served many guests as a waitress. Joyce was a strong and determined woman who overcame much throughout her life. She was a loving and devoted mother who raised her two eldest children, Katina and Anthony, as a single mom while simultaneously working and caring for each of them. She was later married to Paul D. Hamilton, with whom she shared many years of happiness and who passed away on October 7, 2014. Together they had a daughter, Samantha, with whom Joyce resided at the time of her passing.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, spending time during the summer in Grafton, NY, being outdoors and anything Disney.
Joyce was wife of the late Paul D. Hamilton; mother of Katina Harbour McGuirk (Allen), Anthony Harbour (Tarra) and Samantha Hamilton Valentine (Tyler); grandmother of Anthony “AJ” Harbour, Jr., Adriana Harbour, Makenzie Harbour, Avyonnah Valentine and Tyler “TJ” Valentine, Jr.; sister of Ralph Harbour, Jr., Frances Engle and the late Sharon Matthews; also several nieces and nephews survive.
A heartfelt thank you is offered to the staff of the Eddy Heritage House in Troy for their care and support while Joyce was a resident.
Friends are invited to visit with Joyce’s family on Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. A prayer service will conclude the evening at 7 pm. Interment will take place on Thursday at 12:30 pm in the Saratoga National Cemetery. The cortege will depart the funeral home on Thursday at 11:30 am for those who wish to attend.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
