Obituary for Agnes Margaret Wiseman

Latham – Agnes Margaret Wiseman, 90, passed away at home on Monday, January 2, 2017, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born in Watervliet on October 9, 1926, Agnes was the daughter of the late Alexander Daziel Wiseman and Lizzie Jane (Smith) Wiseman. She was a graduate of Watervliet High School and later studied computer technology at Hudson Valley Community College.

Agnes was employed as the secretary to the Commissioner of the Albany County Department of Social Services for 51 years and retired in June of 2000.

Agnes was a life-long member of the Watervliet Methodist Church where she was actively involved, enjoyed fellowship and was a member of the choir. She enjoyed English style horseback riding with friends and loved animals of all kinds, especially German Shepherds as well as other dogs.

Agnes was an avid movie goer, and visited theaters at least once or twice a week. She was also a sports fan and rooted on the NY Jets and Mets.

She was the loving sister of Jean Evelyn Wiseman and the dear friend of Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Willey, both deceased. She is survived by two nieces, one nephew and her cherished friend, Milana E. Pettingell of Latham.

A heartfelt thank you is offered to Nursecore and the Community Hospice for the dedicated care they gave to Agnes.

A funeral service for Agnes will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet. The Reverend Robert Lowenthal will officiate. Interment will follow in the Albany Rural Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit the funeral home on Thursday from 4 until 7PM.
