Obituary for John A Mullaly

STEPHENTOWN, NY - John A. Mullaly, 94, passed away Thursday evening, February 9, 2017 in the comfort of his son's home. He was born in Swamscott, MA on January 20, 1923 to the late John and Alice (Laprise) Mullaly. John was raised in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1938. He then went on to U-Mass Amherst where he graduated in 1946 with a Master’s in Education. He proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, reaching the rank of staff sergeant. John fought alongside General Patton in Africa and throughout Europe. Upon returning home, he met and married the love of his life, the late Helen
Manns on September 20, 1952. They then moved to East Nassau where they resided happily until Helen's passing in 2015. John is survived by his son, Larry (Lori) Mullaly of Stephentown, his grandchildren; Jessica and Stratton Dikeman, and Cody and Jessica Mullaly, and his great-grandchildren; Ryley Dikeman, Jocelyn Dikeman, and Skyler Mullaly. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 12 P.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Stephentown. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with John's family for an hour before the service, from 11 A.M. until 12 P.M. at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 NY Route 43, Stephentown. In lieu of flowers donations in John's memory may be made to the American Legion Post 1268, PO Box 623, Nassau, NY 12123.
