Obituary for Eliane Servera (Servera)
COHOES – Eliane Servera, 87, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.
Born in Marseille, France on March 24, 1930, Eliane was the daughter of the late Barthelemy and Ermeline (nee Pons) Servera. She was raised and educated in Marseille and following World War II immigrated to Canada. Eventually Eliane made her way to New York City where she resided for almost thirty years. She was employed by New York Hospital for 26 years as chief Laboratory technician in the chemistry lab. In 1987, Eliane bought as apartment in Marseille, near her sister, to live in upon her retirement. She retired from New York Hospital in 1993 and returned to Marseille where she resided near her sister, Violette (Edmond) Bianchi until Violette’s death in 2009. Eliane left France for the last time in 2011 and returned to the Albany area.
Eliane enjoyed opera, Mozart, mystery novels, travel and good food. She will be lovingly remembered as a master of organization and for her wonderful pocketbook which contained everything imaginable. Her kindness, sweet smile, selfless manner and wonderful accent are treasured and will be missed by all who knew Eliane and loved her.
She is survived by her dear friend and companion, Valerie Falzo of Cohoes; her loving nieces and nephews, Ermelina Menon (Franco) of Italy and their children, Stefano (Simona) and Riccardo (Pamela), Eliane Lozano (Alain) of Marseille, France and their children, Amandine and Aurore, Bruno Bianchi (Priscilla) of Marseille, France and Brazil, and their children, Florence and Marie Beatrice (Frederic) and Yves Bianchi (Agnes) of Chateau Neuf, France and their children, Michael, Marion(Adrian), Marjorie (Julien), Leah and Andrea. She is also survived by many wonderful and dear friends.
Funeral service for Eliane will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2107 at 3 PM in the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, NY. Friends are invited to attend and may also visit the funeral home on Saturday, prior to the service, from 1 until 3 PM. A private cremation will follow the service and interment will take place in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
