Obituary for Leah Joyce "Joy" Griswold (Neaton)

Valatie – Leah Joyce “Joy” Griswold, 64, of Petersburgh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, with her loving husband and children by her side. Born in Troy on February 9, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Vic” and Pamelia Neaton.
Joy’s entire life was devoted to her family. She was the matriarch of her family who would do anything for them. She babysat many of the neighborhood kids and looked after them with the same motherly care as her own children. She enjoyed partaking in various crafts and reading books, but Joy was at her happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren.
Joy is survived by her dear husband, Robert Griswold of Petersburgh, their children; Tracey (Jason) Goldstein of Troy, Sara (Jonathan) Walther of New Lebanon, and Adam Griswold of San Francisco, CA, her grandchildren; Gabriella Madrid, Jeremiah Walther, Miriam Walther, Malachi Walther, and Javan Walther, her siblings; Thomas “Wicky” Neaton, Pamelia (late Francis) Eggsware, Priscilla (late Alonzo) Dunlop, Alan Neaton, and Terry (Becky) Neaton, as well as by many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, JoAnne Sherman.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 12 noon at Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh. Interment will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. Friends and Relatives may visit with Joy’s family before the service, from 9 AM until the service.
